Viking In Love

She said . . .

Caedmon of Larkspur is the most loathsome lout I have ever encountered! When my sisters and I arrived at his castle, we were greeted by servants and children running wild, while Caedmon lied abed after a night of ale. No doubt there will be another child soon, because I must admit he's as handsome as he is virile. And I must endure him, for we are in desperate need of protection, though I can only imagine what this knight will demand of me in return . . .

He said . . .

After nine long months in the king's service, all I wanted was peace . . . not five Viking princesses running my keep. And the fiery redhead who burst into my chamber that first morning is the worst of all. Why, I should kick her out . . . but I have a much more wickedly delightful plan for Breanne of Stoneheim, one that will leave her a Viking in lust.

Q&A WITH AUTHOR SANDRA HILL

Sandra Hill

Sandra Hill is the NYT and USA Today bestselling author of more than 30 novels, including the upcoming VIKING IN LOVE – the first of her newest series featuring  strong-willed, quick-witted, and beautiful heroines.

Q: Sandra, your books always center on a dire situation that's simultaneously humorous. Do you start your writing with these situations or do the comic accidents develop along the way?

A: The books come about in different ways.  Most often it’s the characters that come first, but sometimes it’s the title or the plot.  I have no idea where the humor comes from because until I met my husband and had four sons, I didn’t have a funny bone in my family.  Now I say it’s a survival skill I developed in this all male bastion I call home.

Q: What inspired the title VIKING IN LOVE?

A: Actually, the original title was TEN KNIGHTS WITH A KNIGHT, which I preferred, but the marketing folks at Avon preferred VIKING IN LOVE.  I had to defer to their greater market savvy.

Q: What’s your next project? (If you can give us a hint!)?

A: I have another Viking princess story coming out next September, tentatively titled THE VIKING TAKES A KNIGHT, followed in October by another Viking Navy SEAL book tentatively titled THE DARK VIKING (It had been EVEN VIKINGS GET THE BLUES).  I’m playing around with the possibility of a Viking vampire series.  And I have another Cajun contemporary coming.

Q: Which romances are you reading at the moment?

A: Susan Elizabeth Phillips WHAT I DID FOR LOVE and Lisa Kleypas’s BLUE-EYED DEVIL.  I just finished glomming old Maggie Osborne books, as well as some Cait Logan westerns.  Automatic buys for me are Mary Balogh, Loretta Chase, Karen Moning, Susan Wiggs, Christine Feehan, Beverly Lewis, etc.

Q: What’s a little-known fact (or two) about Sandra Hill?

A: I’m timid.  Not shy.  I can speak before large crowds with no problem, but I cringe in a large crowd (or conference) where I don’t know many people.  In fact, if I don’t have a friend traveling with me, I don’t go.
