NOT JUST FRIENDS Author: Kate Hoffmann ISBN: 9780373796854 5/2012 CONTEMPORARY Publisher: HARLEQUIN BLAZE
Julia and Adam were campers together as teenagers and are reunited as adults when the camp is revamped by friends. Julia always had a crush on Adam, the popular guy at camp. Now, months before she is to leave for Paris for two years, she decides to act on the teenage crush that has developed into adult lust. Unbeknownst to Julia, Adam was always interested in her and views this as an opportunity to pursue an actual relationship. The idea of the two getting together at the camp is cute, but not executed as well as it could have been. The couple almost immediately jumps into bed together without any anticipation or lead up. The other characters seem like background noise that only make a brief appearance to give the pair advice. While the sweetness of the ending was great and romantic, it would've made more of an impact if the author had established a real connection between the characters throughout the story.
