Texas Wedding for Their Baby's Sake by Kathryn Albright

The battle for freedom in the Texas Territory is over, but not for Brandon Dumont. Captured by the enemy, Brandon was forced to tend their soldiers. Now, crippled in body and spirit, he battles his own personal demons. He can never return to the woman he once loved—not like this.

Caroline Benet enjoyed one night in Brandon’s arms before he left for Texas. When she discovers she is expecting his baby and then learns he isn’t returning to her, it is time to do something drastic…like heading to Texas to find him.

RRAH's THOUGHTS AND PONDERINGS: 4 Rose Read

Every now and then, I read an historical romance that is just so pleasing and well-written it pulls me right back in time. That is the case with TEXAS WEDDING FOR THEIR BABY’S SAKE. I read this charming story in one afternoon, and completely forgot every bit of my life or the rain hammering against my window as I became immersed in a tale of selflessness, bravery, and determination.

Caroline loves Brandon with all her heart but he seems committed to pushing her away. He cares more for what he believes is in her best interest than what she needs from him, and while Caroline would leave everyone and everything behind for him, he won’t hear of her doing so. Time and again she is rebuffed, but while she may get discouraged, Caroline never gives up on getting what she knows is best for her heart—and for their baby.

Brandon isn’t deliberately insensitive. The man has been through the wringer, surviving more demons than any one person should ever face. He has spells that might drive another to madness, is called upon to perform surgery under horrible conditions and faces a host of other issues. His perseverance is admirable, as is his character.

I wanted with all my heart for this besieged couple to find happiness. Their journey isn’t always straightforward or easy, but it is insightful, tender, and entertaining. I loved getting to know Caroline and Brandon, and I believe others will, too.

TEXAS WEDDING FOR THEIR BABY’S SAKE is a wonderful historical romance that is sure to please readers. Enchanting!
