When Frederica brings her younger siblings to London determined to secure a brilliant marriage for her beautiful sister, she seeks out their distant cousin the Marquis of Alverstoke. Lovely, competent, and refreshingly straightforward, Frederica makes such a strong impression that to his own amazement, the Marquis agrees to help launch them all into society.
Lord Alverstoke cant resist wanting to help her
Normally wary of his family, which includes two overbearing sisters and innumerable favor-seekers, Lord Alverstoke does his best to keep his distance. But with his enterprising - and altogether entertaining - country cousins getting into one scrape after another right on his doorstep, before he knows it the Marquis finds himself dangerously embroiled... |
RRAH's THOUGHTS AND PONDERINGS:
FREDERICA had a lot of detail, but it was good detail. You never had to guess at what the author was trying to say because everything was clear and easy to read and understand.
Frederica is the oldest sister and therefore the one responsible for raising her three younger siblings, while her younger brother, their guardian, is away at school.
Frederica finds herself at the mercy of her very distant cousin, Lord Alverstoke, far to often. A romance that he never dreamed would ever occur starts to bloom, and soon distant cousin Alverstoke has no choice but to follow his heart for the first time in his distant life. The romance was soft in this story, and I don’t say that in a bad way. I mean that it happened at a speed that was realistic and natural, nothing harsh and fast paced.
This is a book to sit back and relax with, one to take your time and enjoy all that it has to offer, with characters that are real and likable.
I enjoyed Frederica very much, and I am looking forward to reading more of Ms. Heyer's works.
