I became a huge fan of Jordan Dane’s when I picked up her first two books at an airport on the way to my grandmother’s funeral. The first book got me through the flight there in surprising mental comfort. I was hooked! I’m happy to say Dane’s promise is continuing to be realized with her fourth novel. It opens with a bang and keeps you riveted to the page with a heartbreaking plot and tons of action. There’s a selection of her patented tough characters along with a few more fragile, wounded types. Though some plot points are wrapped up, including a very minimal (no sex on page) romance, there is plenty of room left for both a continuing story line and new ones. While reading the teaser for Dane’s next book at the end, I was happy to see one of the most interesting characters continues into the next series release. The title refers to an international organization that uses online predators to capture unsuspecting wannabe runaways. Bounty Hunter Jessica Beckett gets pulled into a greater mystery when she goes after someone she believes is mixed up in sex trafficking. With her past, she can’t stand down from this type of battle. She’s aided by her oldest friend, a police officer, and a new employee, but soon they are in over their heads. Allies are on their way, from a mysterious vigilante organization as well as from the family of a missing teen. Dane is on a roll! EVIL WITHOUT A FACE is top-notch suspense from a new genre star. Don’t miss this book! Heather Hiestand |
