Terms of Surrender by Kylie Brant

Dace Recker loved, and lost, Jolie Conrad eighteen months ago, after the death of their son. Now she’s back, partnered with him on the Crisis Negotiation Team. And the deadly bank robbery they’re working is only slightly more risky than unraveling their complicated past.

Jolie came back to Metro City to care for her dying mother, not to rekindle her painful relationship with Dace. But when one of the bank robbers begins a deadly game of revenge, Jolie and Dace are in his sights. And it’s only a matter of time before danger—and passion—find them again. . .

RRAH's THOUGHTS AND PONDERINGS: 4 Rose Read

TERMS OF SURRENDER is one of those fast-moving, tension-filled suspense stories that is such a quick read it's possible to enjoy the whole thing in about as much time as it takes to watch a movie. And given the choice between watching movies and reading a book, the book wins every time with me. This book is a definite winner, with not only a twisting, detailed plot but heartwarming, realistic characters as well.

Theirs is a world where tension and winner-take-all moments are commonplace. A SWAT team is not for the faint of heart, and nerves of steel are a job requirement. But when Jolie and Dace come face to face at a hostage situation after their personal life tore them apart, there is more than enough stress to give every member of the team a plateful. This pair must not only work out the intricacies their jobs require, but solve the unfinished business between them as well.

While I did figure out why Jolie and Dace went their separate ways long before it was actually revealed, that doesn't mean I didn't enjoy hearing it all from the characters themselves, too. Theirs is a relationship that pushed them apart in a way no one would wish for. Their story is human and heartfelt, and I was caught right up in it.

Kylie Brant's TERMS OF SURRENDER is intrigue with heart. I enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more from this talented author.
