FIANCÉ AT HER FINGERTIPS Author: Kathleen Bacus ISBN: 9780505527349 5/2008 CONTEMPORARY Publisher: DORCHESTER
If I had to recommend just a handful of books designed to entertain and amuse, this would be one of the ones on the list. FIANCÉ AT HER FINGERTIPS by Kathleen Bacus is a hoot from the very first page and the fun doesn't stop until the last. I loved this book! Debra is about ready to rip her own head off, just to quell her dating misery, when she stumbles across a man in a box in a mall. Not an actual man, but a fool-the-world scenario for satisfying the dating and mating do-gooders (her parents) who have made her existence almost intolerable with their well-intentioned meddling. She would have preferred a different "man," but the last box was for a lawyer and single beggars can't be choosers, so Debra buys the fake fiancé and begins the charade. Imagine her amazement, and her fear for her sanity, when she learns her father has met her fictitious boyfriend. Why, her dad has even invited "Logan" to lunch! This book was funny before Debra and Logan actually met, but side-splitting hilarious after their meeting. The author's writing style makes the telling of this tale seem like a confidence shared between girlfriends over lunch, or maybe even during cocktail hour. I felt like Ms. Bacus was sitting beside me, giving me each juicy detail of Debra and Logan's unlikely love match. As I said, this book is pure entertainment. Wonderfully well written, FIANCÉ AT HER FINGERTIPS is a book that will stay on my shelf—but only until the next time I need to laugh. Then, I'll be reading it again! Kay James |
