Predatory Game by Christine Feehan

Saber Wynter is running from her past when she meets Jess Calhoun, an ex-Navy SEAL who is physically and emotionally compromised by his own mysterious and violent history as a GhostWalker. What Jess senses in Saber is a kindred spirit, a lost soul desperate for sanctuary. He offers her a home, job, and a haven where she can safely reveal the secrets that shadow her. But danger follows her, too. Now, the riddles of both their pasts are about to collide, shattering the promise of their future with the ultimate betrayal.

RRAH's THOUGHTS AND PONDERINGS: 4 Rose Read

For the most part, Feehan's Game series is a winner. Especially when it comes to the chemistry of its couples and military style plots. The books remind me of the X-Files, but instead of aliens trying to hide from the government, it features super-soldiers trying to escape from their loony scientist "maker."

PREDATORY GAME fits right in with the rest of the series, and most definitely is a solid, action-packed read. I do find some of the plot to be a bit extravagant and convoluted, which is why I give it a Four Rose instead of a Top Pick award, but I like it none the less. Mainly the hero, like most of Feehan's heroes, is the primary draw, but the fact that he is in a wheelchair and still sexy separates him from the pack. The heroine is a bit too tiny for me, but she can still kick butt so that's cool, too.

I have no doubt that fans of the Game series will gobble this one up in one sitting. I, however, view PREDATORY GAME more like a prelude for what is to come. Everything is ending a bit too neatly for me, and if Feehan stays true to her past writing style, that tells me that the GhostWalkers are heading for an upset.
