Every Move You Make by Carla Cassidy

It's her thirtieth birthday and Annalise Blakely gets a strange package. Inside, along with one of her company's handcrafted dolls, is a note: I don't need this anymore. I have my own.

Annalise puts the package aside; she has enough on her mind. Since her mother died, Annalise has been working nonstop to keep her business a success. And, as if she doesn't have enough to worry about, now her deadbeat dad wants to be back in the picture. And she's dating again.

But the cop she's seeing has horrifying news: Someone is killing women, dressing them up as Blakely Dolls, and leaving them for the police to find. Although no one knows it, the killer is stalking Annalise for his final display...

RRAH's THOUGHTS AND PONDERINGS: Top Pick

EVERY MOVE YOU MAKE is an excellent thriller, with lots of suspects and suspense. I thoroughly enjoyed this fast moving novel.

Annalise Blakely is desperately trying to salvage her mother's doll business and this doesn't leave her much time for a life. Her friends are all tied into her job, and one of them blackmails her into going on a blind date with a cop. The relationship part of the book is fairly thin, but does tie into the mystery.

Annalise has no idea she's being targeted by a serial killer, and her new boyfriend, who is working the case, has no idea the serial killer is obsessed with Annalise's dolls. They are together so rarely that this is believable, but at the same time makes for a "date" kind of romance.

Still, it's a really good book, just edging toward being mis-categorized. It appears to be loosely connected to Cassidy's last book, PAINT IT RED, but you don't have to read that one first. You'll probably find yourself looking for it or another of her books though, as soon as you finish this one!
