RELEASE ME is the second book in The Holmes Brothers Trilogy by Farrah Rochon. I didn't read the first book but I did enjoy this one. Toby thinks he knows where his life is going. He's a basketball player, but when he is involved in an automobile accident his life takes a whole new direction. He's forced to see himself, his life and a woman he's known since childhood in a very different light. There are a lot of changes for Toby to deal with, but he does—in his own way I like the fact that this book is written in a really down-to-earth style, with realistic details that anyone who's watched the news can relate to. Hurricane Katrina, household pests, family ties, even Toby's intimacy issues are all very everyday items and they make this feel like a story that could come from anyone's neighborhood. Ms. Rochon's sense of timing is good, and her characters seem realistic. The attraction between Sienna and Toby brings a certain level of tension to the story; it is easy to feel their heat and it is the backdrop for Toby's attempt to get his life back on track. Well done, RELEASE ME is a fast-paced romantic romp that is sure to please. Kay James |
