Having never read a book about the Darkyn, but having heard all sorts of great things about them, I was really excited to get to review this book. I am so happy to report that I REALLY, REALLY liked this book! Okay, so Jaus is so ridiculously hot, everything about his character makes me sweat... literally. The man is gorgeous, rich, powerful and fully in control of himself at all times. And the best part? He can make a person tell the truth just by touching them... makes for seriously interesting situations! He seems so stoic, so sure of himself that at first, I thought he was going to be a little on the boring side of things. But, my goodness, was I ever wrong! I felt so bad for Liling and all the things that she had endured throughout her life. She is such a peaceful, quiet person that when her background starts to emerge, I was blown away by all the little things that started to come out. It was totally different than what I expected, but in a really good way. And the twist at the end of the book with one of her family members—I didn't see it coming at all! Fabulous! Liling and Jaus seem like such an unlikely pair at the beginning of the book, but what progresses out of that first meeting is great! Sexual tension, chemistry, trust—a beautiful relationship shows itself and I couldn't have been happier! Good stuff all around in this book. I was fascinated from the very first page—I read the entire book in one sitting in four hours! Fans of the Darkyn series and paranormal romance are going to love this book! Kristal Gorman |
