TRICK MY TRUCK BUT DON'T MESS WITH MY HEART Author: LuAnn McLane ISBN: 0451222865 1/2008 CONTEMPORARY Publisher: NAL/SIGNET
TRICK MY TRUCK BUT DON'T MESS WITH MY HEART is the new contemporary romance by LuAnn McLane. I had a great time reading this book, and it was all due to the likable and very witty characters that McLane has a talent for writing. I couldn't put this book down, and when I was finished reading it, I wanted to read it all over again! We begin this story with Candie, a home town girl returning to her roots after being away for two years. She's back to help with the family business but soon notices that she's not receiving the warm welcome that she assumed she would receive after being away for so long. As a matter of fact, the townspeople are being downright rude to her. After meeting with her twin sister Sarah, everything makes perfect sense. Sarah and her fiancé just called their wedding off and Sarah blames Candie for the break-up. The only kind of damage control Candie can think of is to get a boyfriend, as soon as possible. Easier said than done, since she doesn't consider herself to be pretty and interesting. Lucky for her, sexy cowboy Tommy Tucker is quick to play Candie's boyfriend and help fix her reputation. I love Tommy! He's handsome and sensitive, and begins to find Candie utterly irresistible. The feeling is mutual because Candie is completely smitten with Tommy. Their plan works out perfectly and Candie is soon back into the good graces of the townspeople. Now, if she can only reunite Sarah and her ex-fiancée! This is such a feel good book. Candie and Tommy are so perfect for each other. Not only that, even the secondary characters were likable and I found myself rooting for Sarah to get back together with her fiancée. McLane doesn't disappoint her readers when it comes to writing those steamy sex scenes! Yep, Candie and Tommy really heat up the pages of this book. What else can I say? TRICK MY TRUCK BUT DON'T MESS WITH MY HEART was a fun, sexy and completely enjoyable read. I highly recommend this book; it already has a place on my bookshelf next to my other LuAnn McLane books!
