My Love, Forever by Kate Hofman

Prince Lysandros of Pátrai, Greece, is in exile in France. The year is 1949. During the Greek civil war, an extremist element pronounced a death sentence on the Prince, and although there is now peace, the death threat has not been lifted.

Homesick, Lee attends a lecture about recent excavations in Greece. To his surprise, Geneviève, the archaeologist, is young and beautiful. When he finds she is fluent in Greek, he is delighted.

They meet again in Paris and when, one evening, he sees her home, passion flares between them.

When the death threat is lifted, Lee is free to return to Greece, and Geneviève is heartbroken at the thought of losing her lover.

A voluptuous blonde shows an avid interest in Lee. Geneviève fears that Lee will succumb to the blonde’s wiles. Then, again, maybe not.

RRAH's THOUGHTS AND PONDERINGS: 4 Rose Read

In 1949, Greece is just getting over a civil war. A death threat is active against Prince Lysandros of Patri, so he is cooling his heels in France, though he'd much rather be back in his Greek winery among his beloved people. Genevieve de Villiers, though French, would rather be in Greece too. She's an archeologist who received her doctorate through work in Greece, but now, sexism is keeping her off the dig.

The two share an instant attraction. The prince is attracted to Genny because she doesn't pursue him, unlike some other extremely coarse women who feature in the novel. Genny doesn't even know who he really is, and he likes it that way. After meeting in Nice, they find each other in Paris and get to know each other. Soon, they are getting to know each other in a biblical sense as well. It's true love all the way, with only a few minor hiccups along the way.

The prince is a strong, alpha male, just what you'd expect such a hero to be. Genny doesn't ring quite as true to me, though that's part of the romantic fancy of this book. She's shy and inexperienced, yet pursuing a career in the 1940s. She's demure yet wears sexy clothes and sleeps with the prince. However, this is a fantasy, and she's probably just doing those things that shy, inexperienced girls want to be doing with such a sexy man!

MY LOVE, FOREVER is a highly charged, romantic tale. You true romantics out there will be sighing with joy!
