In the Highlander's Bed by Cathy Maxwell

Highland warrior Gordon Lachlan has spent his life fiercely battling the English. Now, to claim victory for his clan, he must retrieve the legendary Sword of the MacKenna from the hands of his mortal enemies. His plan: to kidnap Constance Cameron from her remote boarding school and force her wellborn relatives to surrender the sword as her ransom.

But Lachlan is surprised that the woman he's snatched from her bed is no malleable miss. Constance longs for adventure. She's tantalized by Lachlan and his passionate cause ... and tempted enough by his seductive ways to wonder what it would be like to find herself in the Highlander's bed...

RRAH's THOUGHTS AND PONDERINGS: Top Pick

I absolutely, positively always love Cathy Maxwell's books! There is absolutely nothing bad that I can say about IN THE HIGHLANDER'S BED.

Constance is priceless as Gordon's heroine. She is so feisty, so not afraid of the big, burly Scotsman who is trying to kidnap her. As a matter of fact, she makes it downright miserable for him and his men to get her to their camp, at one time making them all want to take a strap to her backside, and in the next breath making them fall in love with her. She is witty and spunky and nothing is going to stand in her way of getting out of the boarding school she is at, even if some big, grumpy man thinks he is kidnapping her!

Gordon is quite beside himself when he finally succeeds in kidnapping little Miss Constance. She has the audacity to try to beat him up—more than once! He has never met a person who wasn't afraid of him, especially not some silly little scrap who is just a means to an end for him. But, he never once thinks that this obnoxious woman will actually turn out to be one of the most caring women that he has ever known, willing to give her own life for his if the need arises. Even worse, his whole clan starts to fall under her spell as well!

Gordon and Constance are beautiful together, and I love how she gets right under his skin and makes him question everything that he knows. She makes him become a better man and he, in turn, helps her to grow up and become the woman she is meant to be. Cathy Maxwell has outdone herself with this latest addition to my keeper shelves!
