I am so excited to tell you about Meljean Brook's next book in her Guardians series called DEMON NIGHT. This is the book for paranormal lovers. It is a phenomenal book by an author who knows how to give her readers exactly what they want. What Brooks' readers want is a story that is dangerous, sexy, scary and smart. DEMON NIGHT delivers all that and more!

I've had the pleasure of not only reading all three Guardians book, but also the two novellas which were featured in the anthologies HOT SPELL and WILD THING. I can honestly say that Brook's stories keep getting better and better. DEMON NIGHT is my favorite so far with DEMON MOON not too far behind it. I can't wait to read the next book in the series due out later in 2008.

DEMON NIGHT is the story of Charlotte "Charlie" Newcomb and the Guardian sent to protect her, Ethan "Drifter" McCabe. Charlotte is trying to turn her life around after a rough period in her life. She's a strong heroine who's emotionally and physically broken. She fiercely loves her sister, Jane. Jane is a scientist who is working on an invaluable project and there are major baddies who want to know what she knows. The best way to get to Jane is through her sister, Charlotte. When Charlotte is attacked by vampires and then saved by a man sprouting feathered wings, her life is about to become more complicated than she could ever imagine.

Ethan McCabe is a wonderfully sexy and dangerous Guardian. He's set to protect Charlotte, but in doing so sparks a yearning for her that he must push past in order to protect her. The sexual attraction and tension between these two characters is just totally awesome, and I couldn't wait for them to consummate their relationship (which didn't happen right away). I totally fell for Ethan. What a perfect hero! He's tall, dark, handsome and mysterious, and has a southern drawl to die for. He was quite the outlaw in the late 1880's with his brother before he was a Guardian. Now, he's more than willing to sacrifice his life for Charlotte, even when something unexpected and life altering happens to her.

There is so much going on between the pages of DEMON NIGHT. If you've been lucky enough to read the other books in this series, then you will be familiar with a lot of the characters that play a role in this story. If you're not familiar with Meljean Brook's books, don't worry. This book stands alone and it's not difficult to follow the characters that come and go.

DEMON NIGHT by Meljean Brook is the epitome of what a paranormal romance should be! I didn't want to put it down and was completely drawn into the world of Humans, Demons, Vampires, Angels and Guardians that she created. A definite Top Pick for me!
