RRAH's THOUGHTS AND PONDERINGS: 4 Rose Read

With her red-tipped hair and quirky outlook, Sophia Gable is definitely an unlikely match for staid Grey Barlow. But when he asks for an assistant to help him through after an accident, she's what the temp agency sends so they must learn how to live together—with Alfred, her flop-eared rabbit, as chaperone!

THE BOSS'S UNCONVENTIONAL ASSISTANT by Jennie Adams is a fun romantic tale that shows that when opposites attract, anything can happen! It is the third book in a series about the Gable sisters, and while I haven't read the first two, that did not diminish my enjoyment one bit.

I enjoyed every minute of this fast-paced story, falling easily into the lives of Soph and Grey, his business and their extended families. With a less-than-maternal mother, it is no surprise Sophie's nurturing instinct is what it is. And with several stepmothers to contend with, Grey has a unique perspective on families. But with their attraction becoming more evident with each passing day, this couple must come to grips with each other, and every bit of baggage they bring to their relationship.

What I especially enjoyed about this story was the emotional realism. While Soph and Grey agree neither wants a personal relationship, that theirs should be a working arrangement, when Soph says precisely that, the undercurrents, feelings and fallout from it is precisely what would happen in this situation in real life. That is flawless writing, to bring emotions so clearly to the reader's mind that when a character reacts, it's exactly as the reader believes it should be. Ms. Adams brings the reader right into the room with her characters, something that makes this book a pleasure to read.

THE BOSS'S UNCONVENTIONAL ASSISTANT is a soft, sweet tale that kept me awake until the wee hours of the morning. I cared about these characters and wanted to see how this would end for Soph and Grey. Jennie Adams has a fresh voice that made me feel as if I was on holiday in Australia. Well done!
