RRAH's THOUGHTS AND PONDERINGS: Top Pick

Fans of Cassie Edwards will love this latest edition to her Savage Series, SAVAGE SKIES. It is an exciting tale that takes place in the 1851 Wyoming Territory. Fascinating characters share with the readers the story of Shirleen, a woman who is looking for a way save herself and her four-year old daughter from her abusive husband. On the day she decides to bravely set out on her own, she is abducted by Comanches. What is worse for Shirleen is the fact she cannot find her daughter. At this point in the story it is unknown whether the child is taken, dead, or left behind, alone and afraid. Shirleen is rescued from the Comanches by Chief Blue Thunder and it is does not long in the story for them to fall in love, but always Shirleen worries about her daughter. Blue Thunder will do anything for the woman he loves and vows that he will learn the fate of her child. This is a fast-paced and exciting story filled with thrilling action that drew me to it through its strong emotions and great passion.

I have enjoyed all the books from the Savage Series and was happy to discover that SAVAGE SKIES is as entertaining as the rest. Just like the other books in this series, the growing adverse conditions that affected the Native Americans due to the ever growing encroachment of settlers is demonstrated. The story shows both the point of view from the Native Americans and the settlers. The problem with diseases such as small pox and conditions such as relocation and the destruction of the buffalo, are shown in such a way that it is easy to understand what is happening and their affects upon the people.

SAVAGE SKIES is a story of great passion and love. From the beginning there is a feeling of growing affection and definite attraction between Blue Thunder and Shirleen. It is obvious they are meant to be together and the story heats up quickly. Shirleen and Blue Thunder are just two of the many characters that make this a captivating tale and it is this, along with its great plot, which makes SAVAGE SKIES a book that I will return to read again and again.
