Silver Master by Jayne Castle

Fleeing a lurid scandal, matchmaker Celinda Ingram arrived in Cadence City desperate for a new start. Known for her strong para-resonator abilities, she is able to match up clients by reading their psi waves. It's this talent that sets her body tingling when security specialist Davis Oakes shows up at her office.

A formidable psychic himself, Davis is trying to track down a powerful relic that Celinda supposedly bought as a toy for her pet dust bunny. Trying to wrest the ruby red object from the suspicious duo nearly drains Davis of the energy he'll need to keep his growing desire for Celinda in check—and to keep her safe from those who will do anything to possess the relic...

RRAH's THOUGHTS AND PONDERINGS: 4 Rose Read

I have enjoyed reading past stories by Jayne Castle set in this futuristic world, and this latest installment is no different. SILVER MASTER contains the humor of the previous books without losing any of the chemistry between the two main characters.

Celinda has recently moved to Cadence City, trying to escape a potential PR nightmare in her previous job. She is working as a match maker using her para-resonator skills when Davis Oakes shows up asking for her help in recovering an object for his client. But Araminta—Celinda's dust bunny—has different ideas. She takes off with the relic and the chase ensues.

In this futuristic world, dust bunnies have eyes and legs and are pets that seem to generally adopt their owners, not the other way around. Araminta is definitely center stage in SILVER MASTER and she is a great secondary character. These pets are cute and cuddly, while at the same time they can be quite ferocious and protective when necessary. The dust bunny's are a good example of Ms Castle's sense of humor being added to everyday life in a realistic way that makes this futuristic world fun and yet believable.

Celinda and Davis have great chemistry interspersed with a story line that gives a depth to this futuristic world. There is an action-packed mystery along with a sense of the ridiculous that make this very different from most paranormal books.

If you're a fan of these Jayne Castle books, I would recommend this one—and if you haven't read one, but you like a bit of quirky every now and then, give SILVER MASTER a try!
