Bride for a Knight by Sue-Ellen Welfonder

She vowed to satisfy his every desire...

On the eve of his return to Baldreagan castle, Highlander Jamie Macpherson cannot believe his eyes: a golden-haired beauty haloed in the moonlight of St. Bride's own glade, so delicate and fair she can only be a faery. With his desire rising like a wave, the knight longs to see her again. The next time is even more of a surprise: Aveline Matheson is the flesh-and-blood bride of his arranged marriage, a hot-blooded woman eager to discover the pleasures of wedded bliss. And woe to those who would stop their lovemaking!

But the murder of his brothers has made Jamie the clan's new heir, and he has vowed vengeance. Then, when his merciless enemy threatens every Macpherson, Jamie's rage turns him into a savage force of nature...for he will do whatever he must to keep the woman of his dreams in his arms forever.

RRAH's THOUGHTS AND PONDERINGS: Top Pick

BRIDE FOR A KNIGHT by Sue-Ellen Welfonder is an enjoyable combination of historical romance and fantasy that I felt brought to life the passion of the Highlands. The compelling characters of Jamie Macpherson and Aveline Matherson draw you into their story with the magic of love that surrounds them.

Their story primarily concentrates on the character of Jamie, a strong, noble knight who finds he must return home after an accident kills his brothers. Strong emotions are brought forth during this time as Jamie deals with his feelings of rejection from his father. Jamie is a strong man that has had his heart broken and is willing to do anything just to win his father's love. His pain seems very real, and I found myself hoping that he would find both the acceptance he desired and the happiness he deserved.

Aveline is the name of the character that finds herself betrothed to the handsome Jamie. She is known for her good deeds and her beauty. What I liked best about this character is her inner strength and willingness to fight for the man she loves. She may be small, but she does not let anything stand in her way. Jamie and Aveline's mutual attraction leads to numerous delightfully steamy scenes in which they explore the depth of their passion.

Inside of this very heated romance, there is a mystery surrounding Jamie's brothers' deaths. Intrigue builds, and ghostly apparitions seem to appear more frequently as Jamie and Aveline get closer to the truth. As the danger began to heat up, I feared for the safety of the two lovers. The ending was wonderful, and I was very happy that it came as a complete surprise.

BRIDE FOR A KNIGHT by Sue-Ellen Welfonder, is a definite keeper, and one that will be read over an over again.
