MIRAGE kept me up half the night as I raced to the finish of this action-adventure romance, set in 1880 London and Egypt. If you're a fan of movies like Raiders of the Lost Ark or National Treasure, or authors like Betina Krahn, you'll enjoy MIRAGE. Alexandra Talbot is a young American archeologist, trained by her father. Her uncle had mystical visions of a pharaoh's wife, which set the three searching for her tomb. Alexandra's father and uncle died, but she continued the search all the way to the British Museum, where she meets Viscount Blakeney, who is half-Bedouin and part of a tribe descended from the pharaoh's wife. Because of his own insecurities, he starts off their relationship with lies, which feeds into Alexandra's fear stemming from a prophecy. But neither of them is aware of the prophecies they are each working from. Danger is afoot from other sources too, of course! The two head for Egypt to uncover the lost city of Per-Ramesses. Burns includes interesting setting and archeological details to keep us interested. Lots of sizzling sex is happening as well in the Sahara! Need an involving read to while away those long winter nights? Pick up MIRAGE today! Heather Hiestand |
