Unmanned by Lois Greiman

Even in a city of long, tall beauties, psychologist Christina McMullen is used to getting
hit on. But she’s definitely not accustomed to having a hit on her. Until the day a charming stranger shows up at her door—and someone guns him down right in front of her.

For Chrissy, shootings and explosions are what pass for normal in her tempestuous
relationship with sexy LAPD lieutenant Jack Rivera. But the real mayhem begins when her brother Pete blows in from the Windy City trailing clouds of trouble in the form of a pregnant girlfriend, “borrowed” money, and a mobster named “D.” Chrissy always said her family would be the death of her—but even L.A.’s sassiest shrink isn’t prepared for the truth behind her brother’s link to the dead stranger…or the killer who threatens them both.

RRAH's THOUGHTS AND PONDERINGS: Top Pick

What an absolute ride! This is my second novel by Lois Greiman—I loved the first one, but I love UNMANNED even more.

Psychologist Christina McMullen is used to getting hit on—by men. But now the tables have turned and she has "a hit" on her. A total stranger is gunned down in front of Christina, right at her front door.

Christina is not expecting the trouble she is about to be in, especially involving her brother, Pete. Pete has a link to the dead man and many more secrets that he's hiding from Christina. Unless he shares those secrets with his sister, the lives of both Peter and Christina could be threatened.

Greiman makes Christina's character everything a woman would want to be—she's beautiful, smart, talented, and independent. UNMANNED was a delightful read from beginning to end. It has humor, action and suspense. It has a simple story line that is easy to follow. You could not ask for a better contemporary mystery, especially with all the elements that make a great book. UNMANNED is a keeper!
