RRAH's THOUGHTS AND PONDERINGS:

Nalini Singh did it again! Her 2006 paranormal, SLAVE TO SENSATION, was one of the best books I read last year and is one of my personal favorites. After reading the sequel to it, VISIONS OF HEAT, I now have another favorite book. Singh is such a talented author and her books are absolutely phenomenal. I fell in love with the world she created and the characters that she gives so much emotion to. VISIONS OF HEAT is penned with an intensity that only Nalini Singh can give to a story.

In VISIONS OF HEAT we once again delve into the Psy/changeling world. What an awesome world it is. We meet Faith NightStar, an F-Psy with the ability to foresee the future. She is a hot commodity to her PsyClan and is living in a place void of much physical contact. Lately she's been having visions of death and blood, and it isn't until her sister, Marine, has been killed that Faith realizes she needs to find out why she is having these horrible visions. She decides to seek out Sascha, a Psy outcast who is now mated and living with a changeling clan.

Vaughn, a changeling jaguar, sees Faith escape her compound and goes after her. He is instantly physically attracted to her, while she is petrified of his touch, whether it is in animal or human form. Faith isn't used to touch and too much external stimuli can nearly kill her. She tells Vaughn what she wants and eventually she is taken to Sascha.

Everything that Faith once believed in is going to be questioned after her discussion with Sascha. Not only that, but Vaughn is intent on showing her that physical touch isn't going to destroy her. Faith is going to have her life turned upside down and Vaughn is going to be there to help her be as she was meant to be. Together they will learn the meaning behind her terrifying visions and Faith can learn how touch is anything but damaging.

I really cannot say enough about how unique Singh's storyline is. It is that uniqueness that I love about this book and the previous book, as well. Her characters are so well thought out and written, that you can't help but fall in love with them. Everything about this story is perfect, and if you're a paranormal reader, this is one book that you have to read!
