TOO WICKED TO TAME Author: Sophie Jordan ISBN: 0061122262 3/2007 HISTORICAL Publisher: AVON
Lady Portia Derring is the perfect heroine. Even though this book is set in historical times, she is determined to make her own way in the world. She is headstrong and beautiful with a mouth that just won't quit, and she is not above using that mouth to let a gentleman know exactly what she thinks of him. She is such a refreshing character and gets herself into so much trouble; it is hilarious how Heath is always bailing her out of one jam or another. Heath is a great hero. He has a wonderful sense of humor, but also a terrible temper and it is great fun to watch Portia bring out both of these traits in him. She can be so nettlesome to Heath at times, that I felt sorry for the poor guy. But, Heath is more than just a "Mad" Moreton. I love the depth that Ms. Jordan gave him. He has been the subject of ridicule all of his life, and he lives with the scars of his family and does quite well with it most of the time. The one and only person to come to his home and completely drive him mad is the one person that he is finding that he cannot live without. I love everything about TOO WICKED TO TAME. Heath and Portia both have their own demons to fight ,and watching them overcome them together is a beautiful thing. Sophie Jordan is the author to watch. Her books are solid, refreshing and fun, and I am finding that they are the perfect addition to my keeper shelves. Kristal Gorman |
