RRAH's THOUGHTS AND PONDERINGS: Top Pick

Julie Cohen is back with her June release, ALL WORK AND NO PLAY from Mills & Boon Modern Extra. I had lots of fun with this book and it kept me up too late at night! Plus the hero is completely yummy.

This is a U.K. set book this time, mostly London but a bit in the Lake District, too. The heroine, Jane Miller, and the hero, Jonny Cole/Jay Richard, were childhood friends but lost touch after the age of eleven. Recently, however, they have struck up an intense internet friendship that nonetheless has left a lot of detail missing between them from their day-to-day lives.

Jane, though professionally successful in advertising, doesn't understand relationships and is smarting from being dumped by a coworker. When she meets a sexy model she jumps right into bed with him in typical rebound mode, never realizing she might know the man from the internet. Oh, yes, it was really her beloved Jonny in bed with her and he had no idea she thought he was a stranger! I'm not giving anything away because it all makes sense in the book.

ALL WORK AND NO PLAY is a farce of mistaken identity initially, but it also explores what we know and don't know about people we are close to. There are a couple of subplots with colleagues and Jonny's mother that deepen the theme.

This book both kept me up late and distracted me from my chores. Cohen has written a witty book with a deeper meaning buried underneath the comedy!
