Sleepless at Midnight by Jacquie D'Alessandro

When the Ladies Literary Society of London forsakes the classics for more thrillingly forbidden fare, there can be but one outcome...

The ladies in London are abuzz over Mary Shelley's Frankenstein, especially Miss Sarah Moorehouse. Her imagination is fired up, so when she spies Matthew Devenport, Marquess Langston, mysteriously sneaking home in the wee hours clutching a shovel, she simply must investigate. Impelled by curiosity, the adventurous lass steals into his bedchamber—only to be caught red-handed by the impossibly handsome and totally naked nobleman.

The Marquess Langston has more important things to worry about than a group of literature-loving ladies. But Matthew's grand plan to rescue the family from ruin could be lost when he discovers Sarah hiding behind his bedroom curtain. What is this meddlesome woman up to? And why are his desires inflamed by a chit who is too inquisitive for her own good? Well, two can play at this game ... and when Matthew captures the beguiling Sarah in all her naked glory, the night of mischief has only just begun.

RRAH's THOUGHTS AND PONDERINGS: Top Pick

SLEEPLESS AT MIDNIGHT by Jacquie D'Alessandro is completely and utterly delightful. I enjoyed every moment of this book, from the first page to the last, and I am sure that I will read it again and again.

When Sarah Moorehouse and her closest friends form a literary group, it is not to discuss "polite" novels from such authors as Jane Austen. No, these smart, sassy women are reading Frankenstein! Their discussion turns to the "perfect man" and they decide to construct one of their own, using materials borrowed from the men assembled at the house party they're all attending.

I loved being along for the ride as Sarah pilfers a shirt from the host, a to-die-for gorgeous man who has already piqued my curiosity since I know he's not only handsome, but has a secret of his own.

And there is one scene in particular in this book that once read, will never be forgotten. Sarah watches Matthew, her host, bathe, and it is by far one of the most sensual scenes I've read in a long, long time.

SLEEPLESS AT MIDNIGHT by Jacquie D'Alessandro, is a gem for those of us that love reading about London society and all the romantic intrigue of the time. This is a book that shouldn't be missed!
