Angel of Trevi by Elizabeth Owen

Miss Fiona Fairweather desperately attempts to become what everyone expects of a well-born lady. Bound by duty to wed where her deceased parents wished, she fights to deny the powerful attraction she feels for another-the flirtatious Lord Rocheford. Dare she trust her wild heart or succumb to a sedate life of elegance?

RRAH's THOUGHTS AND PONDERINGS:

AN ACCOMPLISHED LADY is an enchanting tale of a young lady who is practically an orphan. Having lost her parents at a young age, Fiona Fairweather has been raised by her aunt. The family has an understanding with Lord and Lady Buckfield that Fiona will marry their son Roger, after the couple turns 20. When Fiona's aunt dies, she is lost and ready to get married.

Fiona is to be escorted to the Buckfield's house by Lord Walter Rocheford. However, a terrible accident delays their journey and the two must wait until Rocheford's injuries heal before continuing on their journey. Rocheford and Fiona become fast friends and are building their relationship daily. Rocheford's mother comes to meet the lady that her son has become so attached to. After persuading Fiona to accompany her to London, Fiona arrives to find her betrothed already married to someone else. After punching out Roger, Fiona must pick up the pieces of her life and figure out her future.

This story was great! I am not usually a huge fan of Regency romance. However, this novel may have me picking up more books of this genre. Grady's tale is emotional, yet passionate. Fiona is a strong, leading heroine as she embarks on a new life without any immediate family. By punching out Roger, she has earned the respect of men, but has become a source of gossip with the ladies. AN ACCOMPLISHED LADY was refreshing for a historical romance and well written.
