Ok, so I have a confession to make. I did not pick NAUGHTY HOUSEWIVES because I was looking for a good, old-fashioned meaty romance to dig my teeth into... was anyone surprised by that? I didn't think so. As you can tell by the back blurb of this book and the name, this book is about exactly what is implied, and that would be S-E-X. Lots of it. Naughty S-E-X, and if you are faint of heart or not really looking for some straight erotica, than this book is definitely not for you. In Tit for Tat, Shelby is looking to "improve" her relationship with her husband who has cheated on her. She thinks that the only way to do this is to have an affair with another man. She feels like in this way they will be equal, and she will be able to forgive her husband and move on. So she goes to a bar, picks up the barkeeper, who happens to be a hottie, and takes him to a hotel. At the hotel they proceed to have some steamy, top of the charts S-E-X until they are both exhausted. Well, this progresses into full blown erotica at this point, when Eric demands that Shelby bring Bar Guy (as they have both dubbed him) back to their house so he can watch them do the nasty and then join in. Well, this is supposed to make them love each other more and blah, blah, blah. I'm not buying it. It is S-E-X. And that is it. Tuesdays With Lori is a very fun little novella about a woman who thinks that her hubby is taking all her good "sexin" for granted. They have a "two year plan" in which they have decided to have four kids and a big rambling house, but they are working their butts off to make it happen and Kent has become complacent with the whoopee. So, Lori decides that they will have wild, crazy, unrestrained S-E-X on Tuesdays with no interruptions. It will be like Sexday.... Ha, I made a joke. Okay, so anyway, Kent has to wait an entire week to S-E-X up Lori, so he is going ridiculously wild because every chance she gets she is getting naked in front of him, or maybe it just seems that way. So they engage in some pretty hot and heavy petting, which culminates in some pretty kinky S-E-X, and while this doesn't convince me that it helps their marriage, it does convince me that they will be having some pretty good you-know-what every Tuesday. In G Marks The Spot, we take a married couple, which happen to be Dani and Trevor, we separate them while Trevor travels and put Dani in their big ol' house all alone, where Trevor has hidden some porn—some really raunchy 6-guys-with-one-girl porn. Naturally—as we logically see this progression already taking place—when Trevor comes home, Dani has had a raunchfest all by her lonesome and is ready to commence with some porny husband action. Trevor gladly obliges her and even shows his more aggressive side to her, complete with tied up hands. Again, this is supposed to help their marriage, or maybe not, because it is, after all, all about the S-E-X. To be fair, I will say that Elizabeth Scott is a very good author. The dialogue flowed nicely, the characters were believable—horny, but believable—and I certainly wasn't bored for a single minute while reading. The long and short of it is this. If you are looking for a romance novel, this book is not for you. But, if you are looking for a book of straight up erotica and lots of S-E-X, this is the one you are looking for. Kristal Gorman |
