Lady Sara's Scheme by Emily Hendrickson

Lady Sara Harland was as sensible as she was beautiful. Since she had to have a husband, she decided to take her pick from a list of the choicest lords available. One name, however, she crossed off her list. Why should she even consider Myles Fenwick, the Earl of St. Quinton, when so many other eligible lords were much less insufferably arrogant and shockingly libertine?

Sara was sure she would have no trouble snaring a perfect mate while herself avoiding the infamous charm and insidious attractiveness of the infuriating earl. But though this level-headed young heiress had her mind made up, her heart had ideas of its own.

RRAH's THOUGHTS AND PONDERINGS:

LADY SARA'S SCHEME by Emily Hendrickson is all a Regency romance should be. Filled with vivid images of the world of early nineteenth century England, it whisks the reader off to carriage rides in the park, waltzes during the peak of the London Season, and elbow rubbing with Dukes, Lords and Ladies. This book is highly entertaining, with characters that fairly pop off the pages.

Lady Sara Harland, beautiful, intelligent and well off, knows she must choose a man to marry. But who?

She's been raised by her three dowager aunts, feisty women who give Sara and her closest friends a method for choosing husbands. The elderly women make lists of suitable eligible men for each of the young ladies and the group sets out to choose husbands from their individual lists. The nightly parties that mark the height of the Season provide ample opportunity for getting to know the men. Why, then, is Sara the only one having a difficult time securing a match?

Unbeknownst to Lady Sara, the Earl of St. Quinton, Myles Fenwick, has plans of his own. Plans that disrupt the matchmaking scheme. Plans that may even force Lady Sara to admit that her heart is not completely committed to the scheme at all.

I very much enjoyed reading LADY SARA'S SCHEME. I heartily recommend it to anyone who cares to take a step back in time and experience the ton at its best.
