Island Heat by Susan Kearney

HIS POWERS OF SEDUCTION CAME FROM ANOTHER WORLD

Former screen siren Shara Weston lives on an exotic and priate South Pacific island, a recluse—until masculine and captivating Cade Archer falls out of the sky and into her life. Cade gives Shara no choice but to fillow him down a sensual path that fulfills her every desire.

Cade's on a mission to open a portal between his world and Earth. If his plan works, it will be the first step to ending slavery on his world—but not everyone wants him to succeed. A powerful enemy has followed him and is willing to destroy Earth to prevent Cade from completing his mission.

Captivated by his dominating sensuality and his passion—both for her and for his mission—Shara wants to help Cade on his noble quest. Can two people save every man, woman and child on two worlds?

RRAH's THOUGHTS AND PONDERINGS:

ISLAND HEAT has to be one of the most silly stories I have ever read. Yes, it's a fantasy/paranormal so I had to cut it some slack, but the plot is even more far-fetched than anything with shape-shifters or vampires in it to me.

Forgive me for not going into too much detail, because I really could tear this one apart for all the unbelievable stuff that's in it. I will sum it up by stating the most ludicrous part of the story to me: No one is surprised that there is a space alien/humanoid trying to open a portal to another world (in order to send his people salt) in their midst. When the heroine tells her private investigator the whole "truth" about the hero, the investigator doesn't even bat an eye. When the heroine tells a reputable reporter her far-fetched tale, he too, is eager to believe it.

The fact that there is no skepticism on any secondary character's part that the hero is from another planet, is just too hard for me to swallow. Actually, the rest of this book is difficult to get down as well.
