Lucinda, Darkly by Sunny

For centuries, Lucinda has endured her agonizing reality. As daughter of the High Lord of Hell, she rules over nothing, retrieving the occasional wayward demon and feeding off of the savage Monére—of whom she was a member before she died.

Then she encounters the Monére warrior Stefan, who offers himself to her. She is moved beyond measure by her desire for him—and soon finds herself drawn back into the heady eroticism of the Monére. There, she must carve out a home between the jealousy of the dead and the violence of the living, if she is to keep her newfound love—and life.

RRAH's THOUGHTS AND PONDERINGS: Top Pick

Sunny is a favorite author of mine. I absolutely devoured her Children of the Moon series, and now she has released a spin-off from that series called The Demon Princess Chronicles. The first book in the chronicles is called LUCINDA, DARKLY. If you read Sunny's novella, Mona Lisa Three in the anthology, OVER THE MOON, you'll remember Lucinda making a brief but memorable appearance. LUCINDA, DARKLY is an emotionally intense, sexually charged, gothic romance between a demon dead princess and her men.

Sunny tells a fascinating story inside the pages of LUCINDA, DARKLY. I love her writing style and voice. If you had the chance to read her Children of the Moon series, you'll know what I mean when I say that her books are unique and the characters are extraordinary. This book is no exception!

Lucinda is a truly fascinating character. She is the daughter to Blaec, the High Lord of Hell and sister to Halycon (if you read any of Sunny's books I'm sure you'll remember him), the High Prince of Hell. Lucinda is a tortured heroine, merely existing, until she helps a rogue Monere warrior and his foster mixed-blood Monere son. Add another rogue Monere warrior and a tortured demon, and suddenly Lucinda is no longer alone.

Lucinda is a complex character and Sunny did an excellent job portraying both her gentle and demon sides. Her men aren't nearly as complex, but they each have their own complications that they are living through. Stefan and Nico are both very sexy and give Lucinda back a part of herself that she was missing. The demon, Talon, is an extremely unique character that you have never seen the likes of in any paranormal book.

The last chapters in this book are phenomenal! I would love to tell you about it—but I can't and I won't. If you're in the mood for a different kind of paranormal read that is superbly written, marvelously told and extremely sensuous, look no further. LUCINDA, DARKLY is the book for you!
