My Lady's Treasure by Catherine Kean

The Treasure of Love . . .

Facing the tall, brooding rider by the stormy lakeshore, Lady Faye Rivellaux clings to her goal—to rescue the kidnapped child she vowed to protect. At all costs, she must win back the little girl she loves as her own. When the stranger demands a ransom she can never pay, Faye offers him instead her one last hope—a gold cup.

Brant Meslarches is stunned to see the chalice. Worth a fortune, it's proof a lost cache of wealth from the legendary Celtic King Arthur does exist, as Brant's murdered brother believed. Brant can't return the little girl to the lady whose desperate beauty captivates him. Yet, now that he's seen Lady Faye, he can't let her escape his grasp; she is the key to his only means of redemption.

The last thing Faye wants is an alliance with a scarred knight tormented by secrets. But, she has no other way to rescue the child. Risking all, she joins Brant's quest. And finds some things are more valuable than gold.

RRAH's THOUGHTS AND PONDERINGS: 4 Rose Read

Once again, Catherine Kean wows lovers of historical romance with her latest medieval love story, MY LADY'S TREASURE. Featuring an intelligent, brave and resourceful heroine and a valiant, honorable hero, MY LADY'S TREASURE is everything a good medieval romance should be.

MY LADY'S TREASURE does start a bit slow and I did get frustrated at times with Lady Faye's change back and forth in her love/hate feelings for Brant (hence my 4 Rose instead of Top Pick award), but those were all minor issues and were made up for once the midpoint of the story was reached. More character driven than action in the beginning, once things started rockin' in the fight between the conflicted Brant and the greedy villain, Torr... well, to say the story becomes totally riveting is quite an understatement.

Catherine Kean has such a great sense of medieval time, place and in the way she portrays her characters, that it's always a joy when I get to review one of her books. Her heroines are always feisty, her heroes are handsome, true and heroic—Ms. Kean has definitely found her niche in the historical romance genre.

When you pick up MY LADY'S TREASURE, or for that matter any of her previous medieval romances, get ready to be transported back into the past and into a love story you won't soon be able to forget. I highly, highly recommend her.
