Kat Spencer is a woman who knows how to have a good time. She is beautiful, wealthy, and can be a bit of a wild child at times. It is for that very reason that she has decided to take off for a week to a deserted island to try and get her priorities straight. In just a weeks time she will be marrying influential and equally wealthy Ian Zeller, and she has to remind herself of what her new role in life will be. She plans to take this one last little moment in time to get all of her thoughts together and set her mind on the job at hand—becoming June Cleaver. What she never counted on was a memory from her past literally surfacing right on her beach, out in the middle of nowhere—and right where she can't hide from it. Brock Denton... Come on, ladies, does that name not scream sex appeal?? Because if it doesn't, let me tell you, his character certainly does. As a gorgeous FBI agent whose cover has been blown, he has no other choice but to literally jump ship in the middle of the ocean and swim for the closest shore—that being Kat's getaway island. Seeing Kat again, and in such an unlikely place, is like a blast from the past for Brock. Immediately he is drawn to a night ten years ago when he turned down the favors that Kat wanted to give him.... the night he hurt her horribly. I love Kat and Brock together. Kat is feisty and has a great sense of humor, which Brock shares, and they are both willing to do anything for each other, even at the cost of their own lives. For Kat it is an eye opener of momentous proportions that this "nightmare"(as she calls it) from her past has shown up just a week before her marriage to another man. The irony of this is not lost on Kat at all, as she knows what is at stake if she gives up her life with Ian. But, shouldn't every girl go after her hearts desire, first and foremost? Kat and Brock are one hot couple. From the first word of the first page of SWEPT AWAY, the sexual tone is set for the entire book—and it gets better with every page! No one can write a contemporary romance like Toni Blake. She brings her characters to life and leaves a reader wanting more with every word that they read. Kristal Gorman |
