A KNIGHT'S VENGEANCE Author: Catherine Kean ISBN: 1932815481 8/2006 HISTORICAL Publisher: MEDALLION PRESS
While this book didn't take my breath away like Catherine Kean's previous work, DANCE OF DESIRE, did, A KNIGHT'S VENGEANCE is still an excellent medieval romance with solid characters and a pair of lovers that just were meant to be. Geoffrey de Lanceau is out for vengeance against the man who killed his father and took away the lands and title that rightfully should have been Geoffrey's. So, what better tool to use to wage this retribution than by using his enemy's own daughter as the bait? It sure sounds like a winning plan to me. However, Geoffrey's in for a big surprise, because this is no shrinking violet of a hostage he's taken. Instead, he finds a woman who stands toe-to-toe, head-to-head against him, challenging and tormenting him every step of the way. And while he comes to admire, desire and eventually love Elizabeth, Geoffrey must put aside his own feelings and wants if he is to stay true to his vow to defend his father's honor. Elizabeth is a feisty and determined heroine, strong in both her character and in heart. Geoffrey is your standard tortured and scarred medieval knight trying to live up to his word. Supported by a cast that includes a villainess I actually felt sorry for in the beginning and Geoffrey's faithful sidekick, Dominic (who I would love to see in his own romantic tale), A KNIGHT'S VENGEANCE has all the elements that make for an enjoyable medieval romance—sensual love scenes, good characters, excellent writing and dialogue, and a plot and storyline that never lets up and ends in a well thought out plot twist. If you love reading good medieval romances, then Catherine Kean is one author who belongs on your TBB lists. Nancy Davis |
