THE DAIRY QUEEN Author: Allison Rushby ISBN: 0373895747 3/2006 CONTEMPORARY Publisher: RED DRESS INK
THE DAIRY QUEEN turns out to be one of my favorite books despite the fact that it starts out so horribly. You know how you go to the bookstore and you select a book with an attractive cover and you read the blurb and you think, hmmm...this looks interesting, and then you read the first page to get a feel for the writing? I would've have never read this book. Immorality and the F-word predominates the first part of the story. It's offensive. Yet... Subtly the writing changes and the story becomes an extremely charming tale of Dicey winning her husband again. The ending is gloriously satisfying. Cynthia Whitten |
