Dark Side of the Moon by Sherrilyn Kenyon

Susan Michaels was once the hottest reporter on the Beltway Beat. Until a major scandal ruined her life and left her writing stories about alien babies and Elvis sightings. Life as she once knew it is over, or so she thinks until she gets a lead on the biggest story in town: The Seattle Slayer. She heads to the local animal shelter, expecting a tip on the latest rash of killings. Instead, she gets a story about the mayor feeding citizens to a ring of vampires... yeah. Just another day in her life.

Even more distressing than the police officer’s dementia, she gets talked into adopting a cat she’s allergic to. Her first thought is to neuter said cat. But when that cat turns out to be a shapeshifting man who claims to be an immortal vampire slayer, her second thought is don’t neuter the cat...yet. Next thought: seek professional help.

Susan doesn’t know what to believe, but as she’s drawn into Ravyn Kontis’s paranormal world that exists beside her own, she comes to realize that the story that could bring her credibility is too incredulous to believe. Now it’s no longer a question of bringing the truth to her readers, it’s a matter of saving everyone’s lives and souls, and her only ally is a man she’s allergic to. One who is wanted dead by supernatural beings who have now set their sights on her.

In the world of the Dark-Hunters, it’s always dangerous. But never more so than when one very human woman can shatter their entire world with just one story. The only question is... will she?

RRAH's THOUGHTS AND PONDERINGS:

Woohoo! She's back, and she is good! After the ho-humness of that last one, Sherrilyn Kenyon's newest Dark-Hunter book, DARK SIDE OF THE MOON, is back on track with all the heat, emotion, and some newly found wicked humor that I expect from her. Add that to the scary twist with my favorite screwed up Cajun at the end, and you've got yourself a mighty pleased fan!

I know it isn't fair to compare all of the Dark-Hunter books because each one is unique. Logically, I know that, but I still compare all the heroes to my favorite, Zarek. And, I compare all of the plots with gut churning emotion to my favorite one, SEIZE THE NIGHT. It's not fair, and I know it, but I just cannot help myself!

So, imagine my surprise to find that DARK SIDE OF THE MOON comes pretty darn close to giving me that same feeling! Yep, tortured hottie hero, a bit of Acheron's personal torment (Kenyon needs to save him soon!) and Nick's heartbreak thrown in for good measure. Love it!

Well, needless to say, this one is an easy Top Pick. The heroine is funny and smart, and the hero is all beat up and in need of saving on the inside, just like I like them! Now, if only I could get my hands on the next one today!
