A Texan's Honor by Leigh Greenwood

The bawling of the longhorns, the lonesome night watch beneath a vast, starry sky—they got into a man's blood until he knew there was nothing better than the live of a cowboy... except the love of a good woman.

Bret Nolan has never gotten used to the confines of the city. The sprawling buildings, the rumbling wagons, even the roads: all seemed designed to lock him in. He would always be a cowboy at heart, and his restless blood still longed for the open range. And he was on his way back to the boundless plains of Texas to escort a reluctant heiress to Boston—on his way to pick up a woman destined to be a dutiful wife. But Emily Abercrombie wasn’t one to agree to just up and leave her ranch in Texas to move to an unknown city. And the more time Bret spent with the determined beauty, the more he realized he wanted to be the man—the only man—in Emily’s life. Now he just had to show her the true honor found in the heart of a cowboy.

RRAH's THOUGHTS AND PONDERINGS:

Leigh Greenwood adds another book to his Cowboy series with his latest release, A TEXAN'S HONOR. Taking place in 1881 Texas, A TEXAN'S HONOR is the story of Bret Nolan and Emily Abercrombie. With cowboys, rustlers and romance, this book is sure to please Greenwood's fans.

Forever a cowboy at heart, Bret Nolan has reluctantly agreed to escort the beautiful Emily Abercrombie from her Texas ranch to Boston in order to make an advantageous marriage. Much to her father's dismay, Emily is stubborn in her refusal to leave her ranch. Bret has his hands full, and to make matters worse, his uncle threatens him by giving him the ultimatum to bring her back to Boston or he is not to come back at all.

Once on Texas soil, Bret feels right at home again. Hating his living arrangements in Boston, he forever longs to live back in the west. Emily is going to make him question his life's dreams and goals. Bret will soon be waging an inner battle with himself that not only involves his future, but Emily's as well.

Emily is a headstrong heroine. Although at times a bit naive, she's very likable and you become extremely sympathetic with her plight. Bret is a born cowboy, and it's really no surprise that he would rather stay in Texas with Emily instead of trying to prove himself in Boston. Even though their attraction for each other happens quickly in the story, it takes a long time for them to succumb to their desires. Now they have to decide if the road they travel on is going to bring them together in Texas or apart in Boston.

Leigh Greenwood proves again why he one of the top writers of western romances. Although A TEXAN'S HONOR isn't one of my favorite books in his Cowboy series, it is still definitely worth reading.
