Prime Suspect by Melanie Atkins

New Orleans Assistant District Attorney Marisa Cooper prosecutes murderers for a living—-but the tables are turned when her ex-husband is found dead in her garage. To prove her innocence, she must team up with her former fiancée, Slade Montgomery, the detective who risks his career--and his heart-—to help her find the real killer.

RRAH's THOUGHTS AND PONDERINGS:

Now here's a diamond in the rough. PRIME SUSPECT is a thrilling story of how Att. Marisa Cooper must find a killer before she's thrown in jail for the crime. I enjoyed the story immensely and fell head over heals for Detective Montgomery, who is a tough guy with a soft heart. He's been left at the alter before and doesn't want to experience it again. Wise man, but he risks his heart again, which makes him incredibly romantic.

The reason I write "diamond in the rough" and why I rated it 4 Rose Read instead of Top Pick is because, though the storyline and hero are fabulous, some of the conversation became stilted, but with editing it could have been taken to a Top Pick read.

Now, my opinion only, and the author did ask for a review, remember, the hero should not have been named Slade. I know it sounds trivial at this point, but it's too common a detective name and puts the book at a disadvantage. Silly stuff, I agree.

Still, I highly recommend PRIME SUSPECT. It's a quick and thrilling read.
