In Bond of Silver, Alexander and Claire have a bond that binds them for eternity, even if Claire isnt aware of it yet. Alexander purposely sets off to another world far away from his home in New Atlantis to find his mate and bring her back to New Atlantis with him. Being an avid fan of Rebecca York, I hate to say anything negative about her writing, but I just wasn't thrilled with this novella. It is good, I like the storyline, but I just would have liked a little more substance, a little more time to have gotten to know these characters. There is literally no time for the characters to know one another. They meet and automatically Claire gets on the defensive with Alexander because she recognizes him from her dreams. Their first meeting seems strained a bit, and then Claire is in love. Like I said, I liked the storyline and the entire idea of New Atlantis, but this one was just not for me. In Red Skies At Night, Travis is out to catch his friend's murderer. If that murderer happens to be a gorgeous vampire named Gillian, then so be it. He doesn't count on finding Gillian absolutely irresistible upon first sight or the effect that she is going to have upon him. He also doesn't count on the overwhelming protectiveness that he is going to feel towards her, especially considering who she is. But, Gillian is not all that she seems, as Travis finds out, and things might just take him a little by surprise. Maybe Gillian isn't the bad "guy" after all. I have never read a Diane Whiteside novel before, but I have to say that I am impressed. Everything fell together smoothly and I loved Travis and Gillian. Come Moonrise is my favorite story in this anthology. We are talking about shapeshifters here, and everyone who has ever read my reviews before knows that I love shapeshifters. Well, Ty isn't just any shapeshifter. He is a wolf and lives on a ranch full of gorgeous wolves just like him. He is gorgeous and sexy, and took this girl's breath away! Frankie is Ty's best friend, and she has taken it upon herself to go and fall in love with Ty, even if it is the last thing that Ty wants. When they are trapped together in a winter storm, Ty and Frankie heat up the pages something fierce! I loved this story. With a great storyline, wonderful lead characters and some great secondary characters, Ms. Monroe has won me over. I will read another of her books anytime! Beyond Limits was an okay read for me. We have the whole theory of New Atlantis again, but I am not sure that I like how it is done. The "hero" steals our heroine right off of her own plane, and decides that he is going to impersonate Samantha's pilot, destroy her plane, and she is going to go to New Atlantis with him. All I kept asking myself is... why would she want to do something so silly?!! I liked Samantha. She is a good, strong character, but she seems to be a little flighty about this whole situation. I am not sure that I could get turned on by a man who has just abducted me, who seems to have no idea of the repercussions that are going to take place in Samantha's world, and he doesn't seem to care. I like that Samantha learns about her powers; I even liked Ari a little bit (even though he seemed a bit clueless to me as far as how to work a woman). It just seemed a bit too overdone. UNLEASHED is not a bad read, and all four of these authors write phenomenal stories. I have read Susan Kearney and Rebecca York before and I love their stuff, and I will definitely be going out and grabbing some more from Lucy Monroe and Diane Whiteside. Kristal Gorman |
