THE PRINCE KIDNAPS A BRIDE Author: Christina Dodd ISBN: 0060561181 12/2006 HISTORICAL Publisher: AVON
From the very beginning of The Lost Princesses trilogy by Christina Dodd, I have been totally enthralled. Set in Scotland during the 1800's, this series features beautiful, brave men and woman willing to do whatever they have to in order to survive in an unforgiving world full of evil. Princess Sorcha is a wonderful lead for THE PRINCE KIDNAPS A BRIDE, and her story is the perfect ending to this trilogy. She is spunky, strong and has a mind that is all her own. The princess must set out on her own to return to her family's kingdom, before her beloved convent is destroyed by the man who is looking to hurt her and possibly end her life. The best thing about Sorcha is that she has absolutely no idea, whatsoever. We are just as likely to see her walk into a bar full of drunken men and make them all fall in love with her, as we are to see her ride right into harm's way traveling by herself, a beautiful woman who has no idea of her own appeal. Prince Rainger is willing to go to any lengths to return Sorcha to her grandmother, and if that means setting Sorcha's belongings on fire and scaring her out of her wits, than so be it. He knows who she is and what she is all about, even if he acts like a simple-minded fool to mask who and what he really is. He is loyal to a fault and he knows that he must return Sorcha safely to her family so that he can regain control of his own country. But somehow along the way, something happens that makes him look at his little lost princess as more than just a possession. She becomes more than just a means to an end. What we find is that Rainger and Sorcha, as hurt and as beaten down as they may be at times, are fighters. They fight for what they are and who they are, but most important, they fight for each other. Theirs is a story of great love and devotion that I will not likely forget anytime in the near future.
