The Parisian Affair by Judith Gould

When you trap an innocent woman in the world of international intrigue, high-stakes glamour, and dangerous romance you get New York Times bestselling author Judith Gould at her delicious best…

Manhattan jewelry designer Allegra Sheridan has been afforded a fabulous opportunity: fly to a Paris auction at the behest of a publicity-shy millionaire and bid on the celebrated Princess Karima emerald—a one-of-kind gift for the tycoon’s mistress. Allegra’s mission is a success, but possession of the extraordinary gem soon invites threats from a lethally handsome stranger. For embedded in the most sought-after gem in the world is a legendary mystery, a scandalous past, and an international conspiracy that means death to anyone who discovers its dazzling secrets.

RRAH's THOUGHTS AND PONDERINGS:

Relative innocence is abroad and mixed up in the naughty doings of the amoral super-rich in Judith Gould's latest paperback release. Allegra Sheridan, a stubborn, intelligent and talented jewelry designer who is about to lose everything, takes what she thinks is a short-term, high-paying job only to find it turning into a nightmare. You would think contracting with a billionaire to purchase an emerald ring at a reputable auction house would be no big deal, but it's anything but safe. There is almost no one Allegra can trust among the people she has surrounded herself with on her adventure.

THE PARISIAN AFFAIR is one hot and steamy romp through the decadent lifestyles of the rich and famous, as well as the upper middle class of New York City. I haven't read a glitz and glamour saga for ages, so I can't say if they are all this entertaining, but this novel was a blast to read. It has suspense, drama, and hot (occasionally nasty) sex all wrapped into a fast moving story line. Plus, it's partially set in my favorite city, Paris.

I'm not sure the plot is worth examining too closely, since I can't figure out the motivations of some of the key characters, but it's a great lazy afternoon read, or take it to the beach if you're going on vacation this fall. You won't be disappointed.
