ROGUE IN DISGUISE Author: Monica Burns ISBN: 1586083589 12/2004 HISTORICAL Publisher: NEW CONCEPTS PUBLISHING
I could not put this novel down until I was finished. Ophelia is young, beautiful, and determined to get back the home her father lost gambling. Charles is handsome and the spitting image of his older brother, the Earl of Rotherham. In fact, the two could and do pass for twins. Only those who know them well can tell them apart. Charles’ brother decides to go away for a bit and asks Charles to attend a few society functions for him, as well as pretend to be the Earl of Rotherham. It just so happens that the Earl of Rotherham (the real one) is who Ophelia’s father lost their home to. Ophelia vows that she will get their home back no matter what it takes, even if it’s her virginity. She meets with Charles and they reach an agreement—he will return her family home and she will return to his home every night for a month. Thus begins her education in lovemaking. This story is beautifully written with many sensual and seductive scenes which I think are done well. Monica Burns definitely has a talent for writing and has created very engaging characters. I cannot wait to read more from this author. Carrye Syma |
