GOOD GIRLS DON'T Author: Kelley St. John ISBN: 0446617202 12/2005 CONTEMPORARY Publisher: WARNER FOREVER
Kelley St. John's debut novel, GOOD GIRLS DON'T, is a reunion romance wrapped up in a very sexy, very contemporary package. The title is a bit misleading, since the heroine, Lettie Campbell, isn't really a good girl. She was something of a wild child growing up, and deserted the best friend who loved her, Bill Brannon, when she abruptly left the small town they grew up in to move to Atlanta. Twelve years later, she is living in Atlanta with her younger sister, Amy, and telling lies for a living. She comes across Bill again while serving as an alibi for his 18-year old niece, Erika. St. John develops the love lives of all three female characters as we progress through the novel. Lettie hasn't had great sex before and is desperate for it, Amy has hardly had sex at all and prefers it that way, and Erika is looking for love at a biker festival. The sisters get to have the best sex of their lives while getting treated very well by great guys, but Erika, at least initially, isn't so lucky. Her actions get not only herself but also Lettie in hot water with good guy Bill. Luckily, friendship is as strong as great sexual chemistry, and all is right in the end with the help of Amy and Erika. GOOD GIRLS DON'T is graphic and sexually explicit nearly to the point of caricature at times, but will be enjoyed by anyone who likes hot contemporaries. Heather Hiestand |
