THE MISTRESS AFFAIR Author: Kate Adair ISBN: 075994749X 4/2005 CONTEMPORARY Publisher: HARD SHELL WORD FACTORY
Reading a book like THE MISTRESS AFFAIR helps to remind me why I wanted to be a reviewer in the first place. There is absolutely nothing bad that I can say about this book. Kate Moore is a single mother who is down on her luck. She desperately needs to find a way to get up some money so that her son can have the heart surgery that he needs to save his life. She goes to a distant relative looking for a loan, only to discover that this man wants her body in return for the "gift" of $20,000. When Kate walks into Alex Gatting's office, he has no idea that he is about to offer her the proposition of a lifetime. When the offer comes out of his mouth, he is as surprised as she is to hear it. But, once he asks her to stay the night with him in exchange for the money, he doesn't want to take it back. Through a lot of twists and turns, Kate and Alex fast become a great romance, even though Kate doesn't ever want to see him again after their brief affair. She doesn't want to accept his phone calls, either, but Alex has other plans. He can't stop thinking about Kate and refuses to give up on her. THE MISTRESS AFFAIR was my second book by Kate Adair, but it is sure not to be my last. Kate Adair is an exceptional writer that took this story and wrapped me right up in it. I never wanted this one to end! Kristal Gorman |
