Lady of the Knight by Jackie Ivie

Her Honor Demanded Vengeance

When her family is destroyed by clan FitzHugh, Morganna KilCreggar vows revenge. Tall and lean, she disguises herself as a lad—and hones her skills with deadly weapons. A man who brazenly takes what he wants, Alexander FitzHugh makes the boy “Morgan” his squire. The striking and brutally strong warrior never imagines what his servant is hiding. Yet FitzHugh cannot deny that he is strangely drawn to the lad in his charge, and he intends to find out why.

His Heart Demanded Surrender

With each day that passes, the bold knight peels away more of Morgan’s defenses, until he finally reveals her most precious secret. Suddenly vulnerable to an unbidden desire, Morgan strays from her purpose…to Zander’s bed, where she discovers sensual pleasures she never imagined. Now, in the battle between vengeance and passion, the more powerful will emerge victorious, bringing together two hearts, two clans, two souls...

RRAH's THOUGHTS AND PONDERINGS:Top Pick

LADY OF THE KNIGHT is beautifully written and full of passion. Morgan is deadly with any weapon put into her hands. Her aim is always true and she’s bent on revenge. She is the last KilCreggar; her entire family was murdered by the FitzHugh’s, with the exception of her slightly crazed older sister, Elspeth. Alexander ‘Zander’ Fitzhugh comes across Morgan on the battlefield, and takes the "boy" as his squire. Morgan isn’t about to correct Zander about her gender once she finds out he’s from the clan she is determined to destroy.

You might be wondering how Zander mistakes Morgan for a boy—she has long hair, which she keeps braided, and she is very attractive; but because of her skill with dirks and the crossbow, Zander assumes she's a boy more than anything. This causes some real issues for Zander when he finds himself attracted to his new squire. Unfortunately for Morgan, she finds herself returning his attraction, but feels she cannot give in to her feelings because it would mean giving up on her vow of vengeance.

This is a very exciting novel set in the wilds of Scotland in the early 1300s. Jackie Ivie has woven a beautiful tale of forbidden love and revenge. Morgan is a strong and beautiful woman who has no idea just how wonderful she is. Zander is a bit hard headed and blind at times, but he sees Morgan for the beautiful woman she is, inside and out. But how can their love make it when his family destroyed hers?

LADY OF THE KNIGHT is an excellent novel that you don’t want to miss—it’s one you will want to read again and again.
