THE LEGEND OF BANZAI MAGUIRE Author: Susan Grant ISBN: 0505525429 4/2004 ACTION ROMANCE Publisher: Love Spell
Like a lot of action with your romance? Then pick up THE LEGEND OF BANZAI MAGUIRE, by Susan Grant. Most of this one is action and speculation as the romance takes a backseat. Since this is the beginning book in a four-part series written by three different authors, I am hopeful there will be more action in the bedroom in the next one! Bree "Banzai" Maguire is your typical heroine, if you like strong fighter pilot chicks. She and her best friend, Cam, are captured over enemy territory and put to "sleep" by an experimenting scientist. When she awakens, she finds her friend missing and the world too different to describe. Suffice it to say, her main mission in life now is to find her wingman friend, Cam, and to figure out where she fits into the strange new world. Ty Armstrong is the hero who tries to save Bree from her unnatural slumber, only to have her stolen from him. He then ends up a prisoner of the dictator Emperor Prince of Asia, Kyber. Kyber has a thing for Bree, and she relies on his knowledge and doctors, much to Ty's dismay. However, when Bree finds out Ty is from the area formally know as the USA, she rescues him from the dungeon and escapes with herself. There is so much going on in this book that I am surprised Ty and Bree hit the sheets at all. Most of the story revolves around the many people and associations that want to use Bree for political reasons. Ty has an agenda too, but apparently his agenda is the only one that seems to be political and personal. Though one could argue that Kyber isn't really that bad. If nothing else, the intriguing thought of the US being a history footnote will have me picking up the next one in the series. Shannon Johnson |
