Your new book is THE HEART OF A KILLER. Can you tell us about it?
It’s about a core group of people—one woman and four men—who’ve been friends since they were teens and who hold a deep, dark secret because of one night and one traumatic event. When that secret comes back to haunt them as adults, it acts as the catalyst for both bringing them back together and tearing them all apart. And Anna and Dante, my hero and heroine, were once in love but were separated. When a murder occurs, it will either draw them together or destroy them. Juicy stuff. ;-)
Where did you get the idea for it?
When I was trying to come up with ideas for the book, I thought of what one single event could change the course of many characters lives. It all happens in the prologue, and spills forward to present day. It involves past acts, a lot of secrets and guilt. It took a lot of hours of work, because plot and characters are very tightly woven together in this book. It’s kind of like orchestrating a ballet. I had a blast putting the pieces together for this book because it was such a departure from what I normally do. It stretched very different creative muscles for me.
A tough one for you. You've written 51 books. Tell me, which one stands out for you the most?
I’m always fond of the answer Nora Roberts gives—the one that’s on sale right now. ;-) But honestly, there is no one book that stands out for me more than any other. It’s either the one I’m writing right now because it has my full attention, or the one that’s been recently released because it has my readers’ attention and I love to talk with them about books they’re reading.
What do you like to do in your free time?
I love to watch television. I’m a television junkie. I could tell you what I watch on tv but that would take up a lot of space. Of course I love to read, too, so when I’m not working on a book of my own I’m reading great romances written by great authors. My husband and I are also big fans of our local casinos, so we’ll hang out there and try to become millionaire’s (so far—no luck). In the summer I work on the garden. There’s nothing like home grown vegetables. And then there’s time spent on the Harley.
What's next for you? What are you working on now?
Coming up in December is my holiday novella and book 2 of my Kent Brothers series from Carina Press. A RARE GIFT will release on December 5th. This one is Wyatt’s story. He’s divorced, grumpy, and mistrustful of women, until he spends time with his ex-wife’s sister, Calliope, who’s like a ray of bright sunshine in his dark and dreary life. I had such fun writing this book!
I’m currently working on PLAYING TO WIN, book 4 of my Play-by Play series. I’m delving into the world of football again with that book. It’ll follow Taking A Shot, my hockey book which releases in March of next year.
