And our Sue's Clues Mystery Author is:

Lisa Kleypas has been writing since 1987, when her first book was published. She has since published 16 novels. Her latest release, WHEN STRANGERS MARRY, is actually a re-written and up-dated version of an earlier novel, ONLY IN YOUR ARMS. The book she is currently working on, Worth Any Price, her third Bow-Street-Runner novel. It is due to be released in early 2003.

Before she began her writing career, Lisa was leading a busy life. In 1985 she was named Miss Massachusetts and went onto Atlantic City to compete in the Miss America pageant. (What little girl doesn't dream of that? *G *) She attended Wellesly College and graduated with a degree in Political Science. Lisa then went on to write and publish her first book, Where Passion Leads, at the age of 21. She is married to Gregory Ellis and has two children, Lindsay and Griffin.

Lisa has entertained readers with stories that take you to richly described eras and locations. Whether it is Victorian London, with Zachary Bronson and Lady Holly Taylor, or Max Vallerand and Lysette Kersaint in steamy New Orleans, the interaction between her characters is always stimulating and often humorous. Lisa managed to stir quite a bit of controversy with her character, Lily, from her novel, Then Came You. Many readers had a hard time accepting this heroine because "Lily has become bitter, manipulative, fearful, angry, afraid of commitment, and even slightly crazy." In an article at All About Romance, Lisa says, "The point of the novel is that she is redeemed by her relationship with a steady, compassionate and patient man, who eventually brings her back to a condition in which she is able to love and trust again." Personally, I admire a writer who isn't afraid to go against the norm and write a story that isn't a generic romance.
