Unless you are very new to reading romance novels, chances are you've read at least one book by Virginia Henley. More likely than not, you've read several by this author.

In 1982, her first book, THE IRISH GYPSY, was published. Since then she has written 18 books and contributed to 3 anthologies, which have been published worldwide in other languages.

The first book I ever read by Virginia Henley was THE DRAGON AND THE JEWEL. I was fairly new to reading romance at the time, but I can still remember that book like it was yesterday. I felt like I had been swept back in time. I'm pretty sure it was the first one I had read where the characters were actual people from history. I loved it. History was more than facts and events, and Henley had brought it to life. The characters were rich and sensual, handsome, beautiful, and strong.

That was my first, but it wasn't my last. Reading her books, it's easy to see why she has become a respected and loved writer of historical romance.

I had the pleasure of meeting her last year at the RWA conference in New York City. The first thought I had was that she looks just like the pictures you see of her, including a big wide smile, and very nice. I can only imagine how many people come up to her at an event like that. The next thought was that she is very petite. Amazing that such big bold books come out of such a tiny lady!

Virginia lives in sunny Florida with her husband, where she continues to write historical novels. Her next book will be coming out soon and is titled INSATIABLE. Hmmm, with a title like that, I'm thinking it will be another steamy and sensual bestseller.
