And our Sue's Clues Mystery Author is:

Who hasn't read at least one Julie Garwood novel? Those who haven't probably don't read romance novels. Julie Garwood was one of the first authors that I read when I started, and became totally addicted to, romance novels. The book was THE GIFT and, after I finished it, I was on a mission to read every Garwood I could get my hands on.
What is it about her books that makes the reader want to devour each and every one of them? Maybe it's because she is one of those authors who are able to make you laugh out loud - to the point where people are looking at you funny wondering what you could possibly be reading. Or it's the fact that you might shed a tear for the characters who just had you laughing. Maybe it's because most of her books have connecting characters. You can't help but wonder what will happen to a secondary character when their own story is told. Out of more than 20 books, 14 of them have connecting characters. Those books are (in order):
-
THE LION'S LADY
-
GUARDIAN ANGEL
-
THE GIFT
-
CASTLES
-
THE BRIDE
-
THE WEDDING
-
FOR THE ROSES
-
THE CLAYBORNE BRIDES
-
THE SECRET
-
RANSOM
-
HEARTBREAKER
-
MERCY
-
KILLJOY
The first book she published wasn't a romance at all. It was a book for young adults titled A GIRL NAMED SUMMER. Her agent sold that book to Schoolastic Books and asked Julie if she had anything else. Julie did - it was a book about a knight. She finished it and sent it to her agent, who told her she had written a historical romance. Having never read a historical romance before, Julie was surprised but enjoyed writing the book so much she decided this genre was for her. That book, of course, was GENTLE WARRIOR.
Since then, Julie has had 17 New York Times bestsellers and more to come, no doubt. Her books are sold worldwide and published in numerous languages. However, Julie's creative imagination is not just for readers anymore. Her novel, FOR THE ROSES, was made into a special for CBS Hallmark Hall of Fame. Also, her contemporary novel, HEARTBREAKER, is now in production as a feature film.
Her last historical romance was RANSOM. In 2001, Julie switched to contemporary romance with the publication of HEARTBREAKER. To tell the truth I wasn't thrilled when she switched, but then again, I'm rather partial to historicals and hated to think she wouldn't be writing them anymore. Her newest release is KILLJOY. When I read this, I thought, now this sounds like a Garwood. Our winner this round will be receiving a copy of this book and I hope she enjoys it as much as I did.
